Picture of the bowlers attending the Israel Blind Bowls Challenge in May 2000Introductory message from Alex Goldsmith, President of the Israel Lawn Bowls Association for the Blind:

On behalf of the Israel Lawn Bowls Association for the Blind, it is with great pride and pleasure that I welcomed to our sunny shores 38 blind bowlers and 34 coaches from Scotland, South Africa, and Canada. Together with 30 of our local bowlers, and a similar number of coaches, they participated in the Israeli Open Singles, making it the largest international tournament of its kind ever staged. Subsequently teams from Canada, South Africa, Scotland and Israel competed in a full three day test series for the Julius Sergey Intercontinental Challenge trophy - a fitting tribute to the man who inspired us to start blind bowls in this country.
